Joe, the Farmer

This man lives in our neighborhood. He's in his 80?s and has a truck farm he ran on his own. He was at the Saturday Market in Albany with his goods, counting out change. He's a warm, wonderful, nice gentleman who is now dealing with dementia.

When this painting was done he was very engaged in his community and proud of his truck farm, he ran on his own to make a bit of income for he and his wife. He also had a neighbor girl at his booth who had her own mini orchard. He helped her pick her apples and pairs and bring them to market. He was teaching her about making change and all of that. He was a wonderful man with a real compassion for community and who now, sadly, is receding. But this is him in his prime. - LP -
